Primer for Iron, Steel surfaces:

DuroZR Primer - General purpose iron or steel primer

 

DuroZR Primer is a brushable general purpose, oil based interior/exterior

primer suitable for use on iron or steel surfaces.

 

PRINCIPLE CHARACTERISTICS

 

May be used as an anti-corrosive primer on steel and wrought, cast or weathered

galvanised iron. As it doesn't contain lead it may be used on roofs, under approved coatings used for drinking water collection.

SURFACE PREPARATION

 

Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove loose and flaking paint. Wash off dirt and

mould with Sugar Soap, diluted as recommended. Remove rust and scale by scraping, sanding or treating with a rust remover or dissolver.

Unpainted Steel, Wrought Iron: Scrape, grind off mill sale, welding slag, etc. Degrease

and remove any remaining rust by scraping, sanding or by treating with a rust

remover or dissolver.

Weathered Galvanised Iron: Wash with detergent, rinse and dry.

 

APPLICATION

 

Apply two coats of primer by brush, allowing 16 hours @ 25oC between coats. (The second coat is recommended to reduce the risk of spot rusting). Do not leave the primer for prolonged periods (weeks) prior to top coating. Top coat with DuroMastic AC or DuroMastic SR.

 

THINNING & CLEAN UP

 

DuroZR Primer should be applied without thinning by brush or roller. If spraying, reduce with approximately 100ml of Mineral Turpentine or Xylene per litre . Equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with Mineral Turpentine or Xylene.

 

PRECAUTIONS

 

Refer to MSDS prior to use. Do not apply below 10oC and above 30oC.
