Water, Oil and Stain Repellent Coating

DuroWOS - Water, Oil and Stain Repellent

It is a water-based, non-flammable, fluoro-chemical solution. It is extremely easy to apply and gives an almost instant water, oil and stain repellence to concrete floors, paths and walls, cement based pavers and tiles, mortar and grouted joints, stone, limestone, terracotta and brick products. Additionally, treated surfaces such as stone, terracotta and concrete show reduced support for the growth of fungus and algae.

PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS

Inhibits the growth of fungus and algae

Provides a barrier which repels both water and oils

Water based, low viscosity

Allow easy removal of stains

Easy to apply & quick drying

Colourless which cures to an invisible coating

Particularly good performance with concrete and pavers

Chemically bonds to the substrate and provides a durable protection.

USE AREAS

Concrete floors, paths and walls

Cement based pavers and tiles

brick products

PACKAGING

20 Litre

4 Litre

GENERAL

Colour: Dries Clear

Weather Resistance: Excellent

Dry time: 2 hours

Recoat: After first coat soaks in

Coverage: Depends on the porosity. 0.5-1 Litres / m2 [1-2 sqm/litre]

Shelf Life: 12 months in unopened containers @ 20  C

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface must be free from dirt, dust, loose particles, oil, contaminates, curing compounds and flaking concrete etc. Dirty surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with high pressure water or detergent. Clean surface should be vacuumed free of dust.

APPLICATION

Apply it by brush, roller or mop. If sprayed read Health & Safety

directions before use. To obtain an even coverage on terracotta, dampen the surface with a little water before applying the product. Apply at the rate of 0.5-1.0 Litres/m2 [1-2 m2/Litre] depending on porosity.

CLEANUP

It may be cleaned from equipment with water whilst still wet.

PRECAUTIONS

Always do a test patch in an inconspicuous area.

HEALTH & SAFETY

1.
When spraying, use a respirator that meets Australian Standard AS-1715 requirements,

to reduce breathing in the product, DO NOT SPRAY A FINE

MIST, use a coarse spray pattern. To avoid creating a fine mist, maintain spray

pressure below 60psi (400kPa) and use a coarse spray nozzle tip.

2.
Work close to the surface to be coated.

The information provided in this technical bulletin is as correct in detail as possible and is intended to give a fair description of the product and its

capabilities. In practice, the substrate and environmental conditions vary widely, making it essential for the user to determine the products suitability for a

particular application and that the product is not used beyond its physical limitations. The product is guaranteed providing that it is applied in accordance

with the manufacturer's instructions as stated in this data sheet and any relevant Standard or Code and provided that the building and installation is

structurally sound

LIMITATIONS

It is effective on porous surfaces only and is not suitable for use in s ituations of hydrostatic pressure.  It is not suitable as a pre treatment for painting.  It will not seal movement and or hairline cracks.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Eyes: Immediately flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin: Irritation is unlikely. However if irritation does occur, take off all contaminated clothing. Wash

contaminated area with soapy warm water. Get medical advice if irritation develops or persists. Wash

contaminated clothing and clean shoes before reuse.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferable mouth to mouth. If

breathing is laboured, give oxygen and contact poison information centre immediately. Symptoms of

pulmonary oedema (fluid in lungs) can be delayed up to 48 hours.

Eyes: Immediately flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion: Consult a physician immediately. DO NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water to drink. If

vomiting occurs, aspiration into the lungs may cause lung damage. Never give anything by mouth to an

unconscious person.

Advice to Doctor: Treat symptomatically.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flash Point: Does not burn

Auto-ignition Temperature: Does not burn

Lower Explosive Limit: Does not burn

Upper Explosive Limit: Does not burn

Suitable Extinguishing Media:

Use dry powder, carbon dioxide or foam.

Protective Equipment for Fire Fighting:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:

No fire or explosion hazard exists. Fire decomposition products are likely to be toxic and corrosive if

inhaled. Take appropriate protective measures.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Contain spill. Do not allow into drains or waterways. Block off drains and dam the spillage area.

Provide sufficient ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves and safety

glasses and additionally a respirator if vapours or mist build up. Floor may be slippery. Do not breathe vapour.

Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, vermiculite, or commercially available inorganic absorbent).

DO NOT use saw dust. Fill into marked, sealable containers for disposal. Dispose of empty containers in accordance with federal, state and local laws.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Requirements:

Handling: Observe normal standards of industrial hygiene for handling chemicals. Use in a wellventilated area. Avoid breathing mists and vapour and contact with skin and eyes.

Storage: Store in tightly sealed containers. Store in a cool dry area. Keep away from fire, flame and heat.

Empty container warning: Do not reuse empty drums or containers unless professionally cleaned.

Other Precautions: Do not eat, drink or smoke when using the product.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION

No special equipment is usually needed when handling small quantities. The following instructions are for conditions of regular or bulk handling situations.

Respiratory Protection: Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain airborne concentrations below the exposure limit listed in "Exposure Limit Information". If vapours, sprays and mists occur wear a respirator, and follow a respiratory protection program meeting Australian Standards AS-1715 requirements.

Eye Protection: Eye protection is not normally necessary when this product is being used. However if in doubt wear suitable protective glasses or goggles. An eye wash station and safety shower should be available in the work area.

Hand Protection: Information at hand indicates the product is not harmful to skin, but as a general precaution, wear impermeable gloves when handling chemicals e.g. Nitrile or neoprene gloves.

Engineering Controls (Ventilation): Use local exhaust ventilation sufficient to maintain exposure levels below exposure limit concentrations. Refer to Australian Standard AS-1668. Exposure limit Information TWA (mg/m3) STEL(mg/m3)
