polyurethane polymer membrane :

Aquagard M UVR Grade System

Description:

An advanced, high performance, one-part, fast curing, high solids, polyurethane rubber polymer membrane designed for exterior use. Aquagard M UVR Grade System provides durable, foot-trafficable roof and deck membrane barriers.

Uses:

Aquagard M UVR Grade system is used for exposed areas on plant rooms, balconies, roof decks, podiums, sill or window flashings and exposed pathway areas. It can be applied to most surfaces.

Features:

Simple application and fast cure
UV Resistant and foot trafficable
Quick access for trades
Waterproof - resists ponded water
No hazardous level of toxic substances
Permanently flexible - total adhesion
Immediate Resistance to rain damage
Single pack - no mixing
Multi-purpose - high-build
Low odour and non-stain
Forms a one-piece membrane barrier
Will not become brittle with age
Systems for Total Project Specification

Aquagard M UVR Grade System is a true elastomeric membrane; it does not contain Portland cement, tar or bitumen. Aquagard M UVR System is engineered to allow application by "flood coating", without
multi-layering and fibreglass mat. It is not damaged by UV exposure but will discolour. The cured membrane may be painted, overcoated or tiled as required. See Surfacing following.

Preparation:

Surfaces to be waterproofed must be sound, smooth and free from dust, loose matter, oil, grease or other contaminants. Concrete should be cured 28 days and render 7 days. Repair all surface defects with Chemind Chembond modified mortar. Use Chemind Chemflex LM PU sealant to fill joints, cracks, gaps and form angle fillets to internal corners or penetrations.

Application:

Priming:

To inhibit pin-holes and seal dusty, porous surfaces apply 1 coat of Chemind Aquagard M 44 Clear Primer at 8 -10m2/kg and allow to dry. Use Chemind Epocote F100W or Chemcote W to seal any damp or "green" concrete. Roughen PVC or stainless steel.

Detailing:

Detail all joints, cracks, outlets, penetrations and internal corners with a 150mm strip of Reinforcing Fabric embedded in two heavy coats of membrane.

Application of Continuous Membrane:

Apply Aquagard M UVR membrane liberally by brush, squeegee or roller in two or more coats to a minimum dry film thickness of 1.25mm. Allow to dry fully between coats. Use Chemind Reinforcing Fabric in the first coat where uniform film thickness is necessary. Application of a "flood-coat" layer does not require reinforcement.

Topcoat:

Mix Aquagard M Topcoat A/B and apply in one or two coats by brush, roller or spray to give uniform finish with DFT 0.15mm. Grey and a limited colour range are available.

Surfacing:

The Aquagard M UVR membrane may be subjected to foot traffic after 12 hours. Following surfacing systems may be used only after membrane has fully cured.

Tiles: Ceramic tiles may be laid on a mortar bed or otherwise fixed directly Chemind Chem-Fix Super adhesive.

Other Rigid Surfaces: Use a 0.2 mm PE slip-sheet under all concrete toppings. Paving slabs on Chemind Multi-Pads, bedding sand or mortar bed. Chemind Chembond polymer modified render or textures

Decorative Finishes: Use Aquagard M Topcoat A/B colour finish or seal with Chemind Epocote F100W then apply Chemind Flexicote high build coating or premium quality exterior acrylic paint or texture coatings.
Insulated - Thermally: Use Chemind Insul-Foam insulation for guaranteed thermal insulation.
Insulated - Acoustically: Use Chemind Sound-Shield sound deadening system under tiles etc. to give the required acoustic value.

Coverage: Aquagard M 44 Clear Primer - 8-10m2/kg. Aquagard M UVR Grade Membrane - 1.5 -
2.0 kg/m2 for a minimum 1.25mm DFT. Aquagard M Topcoat A/B mixed - 0.15 to 0.2 kg/m2 for minimum 0.15 DFT.

Packaging: Aquagard M 44 Clear Primer and Aquagard M UVR Grade are packed in metal pails. Aquagard M Topcoat Part A and Part B are supplied as pre-proportioned kits in cans.

Clean Up: Use Chemind GP Solvent or methylated spirits before curing. Exercise care with solvents and review all MSDS before use.

Shelf Life: Sealed pails of have a shelf life of approx. 6 months when stored in a cool dry area. Once opened contents may become solid within a few days.
