Chemical Resistant Epoxy Coating:

DuroEPOXY WEAR - A durable chemical resistant epoxy coating

It is a high performance, two component, water based industrial epoxy coating system available in a range of colours.  It is designed for floor and wall applications where durability and chemical abrasion resistance is required.

As a low odour, very hard wearing and chemically resistant finish coating for commercial, industrial and hygiene areas subjected to rigorous cleaning and high wear.

As an abrasion and chemically resistant floor coating with or without non-skid properties

As an anti-graffiti coating for high traffic areas such as railway stations, and car parks

As a mould and bacteria resistant hard finish for wash rooms, shower cubicles, canteen areas and food preparation areas.

As a high performance, new construction or maintenance coating in the food industries

such as abattoirs, dairies, canneries, wineries, etc.

As a finish coating in areas requiring low flame spread qualities.

In ponds and water features

Can be used successfully as a wall, ceiling and floor surface coating.

Non-flammable, negligible odour and toxicity.

Has excellent adhesion to most substrates including brick, masonry, concrete block, concrete, compressed

fibre board, stone and timber.

Resists mildew, mould and bacteria growth.

Withstands steam and chemical cleaning

Long pot life and short touch-dry time.

Aged coating may be re-coated with minimal surface preparation.

Easy graffiti removal from cured finish.

Available in a selected range of colours

Wash all equipment in water and or detergent immediately on completion. Duromastic Epoxy wear will cure under water, hence do not leave items soaking.

All surfaces must be structurally sound and all previous coatings, adhesives, efflorescence or laitance should be removed by chipping, abrasive blast cleaning, high pressure water washing, mechanical scrubbing or other suitable means. All surfaces must be cleaned free from dirt, grease oil or other surface contaminants. Holes, non-structural cracks and other surface deformities should be repaired.

Porous concrete will require 3 coats of Duromastic Epoxy wear. The first acting as a primer, should be diluted 10% with water to allow penetration into the pores of the concrete. Then apply 2 full coats. Mixing should be by means of a mechanical forced action mixer with a high shear stirrer. Premix each individual component then join the two components, by equal volume, mixing thoroughly for a minimum of 5 minutes until a blended coating is obtained. If required add Colour pack to Part A (Hardener) before

joining parts A & B. Avoid trapping air during mixing as this may cause pin holing. Only mix as much as may be used within the pot life of the product. Duromastic Epoxywear is a minimum two-coat system. Apply with a brush or roller, and ensure to work the material into the substrate surface to fill voids and eliminate pin holing. Successive coats should be applied at right angles to the previous coat. It is recommended that as application progresses, the coating depth be tested at random points with a wet film gauge.

Some individuals may experience a skin re-action to DuroEpoxy wear. Refer to MSDS prior to use. Its cure rates will be dramatically reduced if the relative humidity is above 85%. Do not apply to steel or metal surfaces, as corrosion will occur. Do not add cementitious products to DuroEpoxy wear. It is not a waterproof membrane on its own. A dedicated waterproofing membrane should be used. In enclosed areas, such as water tanks or reservoirs, basements, or cubicles, ventilation should be provided to enable adequate evaporation of the coating. Allow to cure for a minimum of 24hours at 25  C/50% RH before applying waterproof membranes, adhesives, mortars, decorative coatings or other surface treatments.  It will tend to chalk when exposed to UV light. Discard any material that has exceeded the pot life or working time of the product. Do not apply over any substrates that have been previously treated or coated with curing compounds, PVA concrete bonding agents or acrylic coatings. These areas must be mechanically cleaned by grinding or shot blasting to produce a contamination free surface.

Cure speed will be dramatically reduced if substrate surface or ambient temperature is below +10 C. If Epoxy wear is applied in cooler climatic conditions, substrate temperatures can produce amine blush, resulting in an oily residue and or areas of uncured tacky discolorations. It should be allowed to cure, then washed with clean, fresh water, Methylated Spirits or Xylene depending on the severity. Ensure removal of the contamination prior to application of any further coating to ensure no de-lamination.

Follow mixing instructions and allow an extra minute to ensure a homogeneous paste is obtained. Allow to stand for 5 minutes after mixing as this will accelerate the drying time. Never apply thin coats as the rapid moisture loss will arrest or slow the drying reaction. Thin coats can also cause an amine blush. Store Epoxy wear in a 20  C environment 24 hours prior to use. If possible warm the substrate surface area by an air blower or use a blower after application.

Chronic Effects Prolonged or repeated contact may result in skin sensitization. Inhalation Inhalation of the vapours (generated at elevated temperatures) or mists can cause irritation to the nose and throat and upper respiratory tract. Ingestion May be harmful if swallowed in large amounts. Ingestion may cause nausea, diarrheal, abdominal pain and vomiting. Skin Irritating to skin. Frequent and prolonged contact can cause skin sensitization. Eye Substance is irritating to the eyes. Contamination of the eyes will result in transient pain, lachrymation and redness.

Inhalation Remove affected person from the contaminated area and seek medical advice. If not breathing apply artificial respiration and seek urgent medical advice. Ingestion Do not induce vomiting. Immediately wash out mouth with water, and then give plenty of water to drink. Seek immediate medical advice.

Skin If contact with the skin occurs immediately remove the contaminated clothing, and wash the affected area with soap and water. Ensure contaminated clothing is washed before re-use. If irritation persists seek immediate medical attention. Eye If in eye(s) wash with large amounts of water for approximately 15 minutes holding eyelid(s) open. Take care not to rinse water into the non-affected eye. Seek immediate medical attention. First Aid Facilities Eye wash, shower and normal washroom facilities.

Advice to Doctor Treat symptomatically. If skin sensitization has developed and a casual relationship has been confirmed, further exposure should not be allowed.
