INSTALLATION
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Concrete must be cured for a minimum of 28 days and render 7 days. Remove dirt, dust, loose particles, oil and unsound concrete etc. Water blast if necessary. Surface must be dry. Fill holes and open joints in block work or concrete prior to application of membrane.

PRIMING

DUROPROOF BLW is self priming when used on most surfaces e.g. Sound concrete, block work. Surfaces may be primed with DUROPROOF BLW thinned with 50% water or with DUROSEAL AR Sealer. Areas subject to rising damp should be first sealed with an epoxy coating, such as DUROPOXY WBE.

BOND BREAKERS

Apply a bead of elastomeric sealant (eg. Neutral-cure silicone) to the following areas:-Wall / footing junction where movement is expected and expansion joints, generally to all places where movement is likely to occur.

REINFORCEMENT

A reinforcing fabric such as 140-200mm wide polyester bandage should be used over the following areas: expansion joints, cracks, footing / floor to wall junctions, around floor/wall penetrations, and any other area movement will occur. Reinforcement is also required over construction joints in walls.

APPLICATION

Reinforced: To the prepared surface apply a heavy coat of DUROPROOF BLW by brush or roller at approximately 2m2/litre. Immediately lay the reinforcing fabric into the wet surface, then apply another coat and work in carefully by brush or roller to saturate the fabric. When dry apply one or more coats to give a fully waterproof lining. Ensure a minimum coverage of 1.6litres/m2. When dry, check for pinholes or misses and recoat if necessary.
Un-reinforced: To areas where a reinforcing fabric is not utilised apply 3 coats of DUROPROOF BLW at a total rate of 1.8 litres/m2 ensuring full coverage, by brush, roller or spray (use 21 thou Min tip size + airless spray).
Porous Surfaces (Masonry): May require 3 coats to obtain a satisfactory dry film thickness.

PRECAUTIONS

Do not apply above 32 oC or below 10 oC ambient temperature. Be sure coating will cure before contract with water. Wash equipment with water before dry. Protect DUROPROOF BLW from extended sunlight exposure. Planter box membrane must be fully cured before being subject to moisture or soil. Protect membrane against damage before and during backfilling or covering. Durotech protection board may be used where suitable. Use an approved drainage system and protection board in planter boxes and retaining walls before filling to protect membrane from any damage. Do not expose to solvents.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Eyes:
Immediately flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical advice if irritation develops or persists.
Skin:
Take off all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated area with soapy warm water. Consult medical advice if irritation develops or persists. Wash contaminated clothing and clean shoes before reuse.
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferable mouth to mouth. If breathing is laboured, give oxygen and consult a physician immediately.
Ingestion:
Consult a physician immediately. If vomiting occurs, aspiration into the lungs may cause lung damage. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Use as appropriate for surrounding fire. Dry material may support combustion. Protective Equipment for Fire Fighting: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: The product is not flammable. Thermal decomposition of this product may produce toxic fumes.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Caution: Floor may be slippery. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Provide sufficient ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves and safety glasses. Floor may be slippery. Do not breathe vapour. Contain spill. Do not allow into drains or waterways. Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, vermiculite, or commercially available inorganic absorbent). Use non-sparking tools and equipment. Fill into suitable containers for disposal. Do not allow large quantities into drains or waterways. Dispose of empty containers in accordance with federal, state and local laws.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling: Observe normal standards of industrial hygiene for handling chemicals. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing vapour and contact with skin and eyes. Wear gloves, long sleeved shirt, and eye protection. A sensitised person should not be exposed to the product. Storage: Store in tightly sealed containers to protect from atmospheric moisture. Store in a cool, dry area. Do not allow to freeze. Keep away from ignition sources such as fire, flame and sparks.
Empty container warning: Do not reuse empty drums or containers unless professionally cleaned. Do not cut, drill, grind or weld on or near empty containers.

Respiratory Protection:

If vapours and mists occur, a respiratory protection program meeting Australian Standards AS-1716 and AS-1715 requirements must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use. None required if airborne concentrations are maintained below the exposure limit listed in "Exposure Limit Information"

Eye Protection:

Use chemical splash goggles (Australian Standard AS-1337) or approved equivalent. Eye protection worn must be compatible with respiratory protection system employed. An eye wash station and safety shower should be available in the work area.

Hand Protection:

Impermeable gloves as necessary to prevent skin contact. E.g. nitrile or neoprene gloves.

Protective Clothing:

Clothing made of the following material has excellent resistance to MDI: Tyvec, butyl nitrile rubber or neoprene.

Engineering Controls (Ventilation):

Use local exhaust ventilation sufficient to maintain exposure levels below exposure limit concentrations. Refer to Australian Standard AS-1668.
