SBS waterproofing membrane3.0mm - is used as a single layer waterproofing system for retaining walls, lift pits and water storage or detention tanks (especially blockwork); planters (600mm or wider) and landscaped or grassed areas; terraces, decks, podiums, fish tanks and water features; roofs where insulation (IRMA roof system) or a concrete topping is to be applied; green roofs and basement walls. Recommended for wet area floors on FC or plywood in timber structures and for expansion joints.
SBS Granules waterproofing membrane 4.0mm - is used as a single layer waterproofing system for external areas exposed to UV such as parapet walls and especially membrane roofs (concrete or plywood) or as a second layer cap sheet. It is recommended for waterproofing decks with seated pavers due to its fire resistance.
modified PLUS
NP180 Tack Sheet is designed for use as the base or first ply in a high performance two-ply modified bitumen system, or as a single ply when not exposed, and for fillets and detailing. Main applications are for tanking, balconies and roofing and for waterproofing of planters.
SBS Sanded waterproofing membrane 3.5mm - has one side sanded so it is used where adhesion of a concrete topping is desired such as tanking the floor of a basement below the water table or for direct stick tiles.
Anti-Root membrane -
4 mm thick, elastomeric, torch-applied, plant root repellent, reinforced with rot-proof single strand spunbound non-woven polyester fabric, membrane. Used as cap layer in landscape and planter box systems.

Driving rain, baking heat and bitter cold are just a few of the characteristics of our climate. Our waterproofing system is able to survive these damaging elements and provide long-term benefits to the owners of buildings across the country. SBS modified bitumen roofing and tanking systems can meet the challenge of the elements with factory-produced, high-performance membranes which provide outstanding benefits to the end-user. When installed according to specific requirements, Wrimco Waterproofing membrane systems are warranted to remain leakproof.
The best quality waterproofing membranes can take repeated movement through cyclical changes in temperature and are strong enough to bridge any gaps due to differential movement between the deck components and the roof covering. SBS waterproofing membranes have a built-in adhesive. Heat welding softens the adhesive coating providing a secure and completely modified bitumen membrane.
Roofing contractors also benefit from Wrimco's superior technology. SBS membranes when torched produce virtually no unpleasant odours which is often complained about with some other systems. A single layer of SBS Granules is used for exposed membrane roofs in most situations. The granular surfacing adds aesthetics & greater resistance to ultra violet rays for extended durability.
A base layer of SBS waterproofing membrane (no granules) can be added for more critical applications such as above large computer installations, or where a smooth surface is required such as a tennis court or a carpeted area in which case the sheets are butted and not lapped. SBS can also be used as a sandwich membrane between a structural slab and a wear slab. In this instance one or more layers of PB4 protection board are sometimes laid over the membrane roof for additional protection and both impact on sound and thermal insulation.

Since no stone or gravel cover is required with the factory applied ceramic granules, the task of roof inspection of a membrane roof is much easier and repairs become significantly less expensive. Best of all is that Wrimco's heat welding provides optimum adhesion to a clean, dry concrete deck - even without priming. Since the membrane is effectively vulcanised to the deck, water cannot track between the membrane and the deck should the membrane ever be damaged. Leaks are thus a whole lot easier to track down in the rare event that they occur.
SBS Membrane Benefits:
Longer, trouble-free life
Wrimco SBS membrane provides excellent puncture resistance and its lower co-efficient of expansion produces lower strain on the membrane. This is very important in
Australia where high daytime temperatures and rapid night-time cooling as well as thermal-shock (e.g. sudden downpours on hot decks) are both common.
Accelerated tests indicate a life expectancy in excess of 30 years and its track record in
Australia already exceeds 24 years. The factory-applied ceramic granules offer a non-skid surface that provides complete UV protection.
Superior adhesion, greater elasticity, fatigue resistance and high temperature flow resistance. SBS membrane is elastomeric. This gives it rubber-like properties including excellent elongation and recovery and an extremely long fatigue life. As a result, SBS membrane can be fully bonded to the substrate, which means that water is prevented from tracking. APP, however, is plastic or plastomeric wax which means it is flexible but not elastic and therefore lacks the ability to return to its original shape after very few cycles.
SBS membrane is a thermoplastic rubber which means that it contains two distinct polymer blocks, thermoplastic styrene and butadiene. Styrene gives SBS membrane its high tensile strength & excellent flow resistance at high temperatures. Butadiene imparts excellent elasticity, fatigue resistance & low-temperature flexibility.
Membrane roofs are easier to detail
SBS has a lower softening point than APP. Lower temperatures means it is easier to detail in general and especially in drains and around PVC pipes. Sound detailing is the essential requirement for trouble-free application.
The lower softening point of SBS membrane (110C -120C) requires less propane to weld it to the substrate making installation is therefore faster, less expensive and easier. Finger moulding around rigid PVC (which decomposes at about 120C) is also possible without damaging either ones hands or the PVC.

Superior appearance maintained
Factory-applied granules have a superior "grab" on SBS membrane roofing. The elasticity of SBS membrane results in less marring of the membrane surface. The integral design features provided by the factory-applied mineral finish are maintained for longer periods.

Material consistency
SBS membrane is a chemically engineered product which withstands movement.
SBS membrane is elastomeric, not plastic or plastomeric, and is therefore capable of being fully bonded which prevents water tracking and makes it less likely to be damaged during construction.
Environmentally sound
SBS membrane is a pure hydrocarbon and so decomposes in landfill or burns without noxious by-products. In contrast, plasticised PVC contains chloride and oxygen so it decomposes in landfill producing dioxins or burns to give off hydrochloric acid.
This photo shows a membrane roof looking east that is waterproofed with Wrimco SBS membrane single layer system. There are no joints that can be seen since width was less than 8m (the length of a roll), and laying was started at the low point so the selvedge is covered when looking in that direction.
The 20 litre pail of Wrimco SBS primer can be seen next to the propane gas bottle which was used for torching the SBS waterproofing membrane.
This photo shows an exposed membrane roof of a private house being waterproofed with Wrimco SBS Granules membrane. The balustrade was first removed in sections and then re-bolted and sealed to achieve a good appearance. There were 75mm laps but fortunately the width was less than 8m, the length of the roll, so there was no need for additional laps.
