Residential Wet Area Membrane:

DUROMASTIC ACS Fibre

is a liquid applied co-polymer membrane containing a fibrous filament reinforcing. When fully cured DUROMASTIC ACS Fibre forms a flexible waterproof lining for wet areas as tested to class II Australian Standard AS:4858-2004 "Wet Area Membranes". This membrane complies to AS:3740-2004 " Waterproofing of wet areas within residential buildings".

DUROMASTIC ACS  Fibre forms a waterproof lining to most building materials including reinforced concrete, cement render, water resistant plasterboard and fibre reinforced cement sheet flooring etc. The surface must be firmly fixed to manufacturers directions, free of protrusions, dirt, oil and other contaminants and surface must be dry.

APPLICATION

NOTE:

Floor wastes in concrete should be cut to floor level with no up stands. For sheet flooring, leak control flanges shall be fitted by the plumber which allow water to drain down into the waste pipe. These shall be etched primed.

Step 1:

Remove all dirt, dust, plaster droppings, protrusions, oil and contamination. Fill screw holes, with sealant.

Step 2:

To joints in sheet flooring, wall/floor junctions wall/wall junctions and all hob junctions, apply 12mm neutral-cure silicone sealant as a bond breaker. Vertical joints should extend 75-100mm from floor and to finish 50mm above shower rose. Apply sealant around floor penetrations, tap flanges and other protrusions. F.F.H (e.g. top of tiles)

Step 3:

Priming: Concrete Render, CFC, timber and Plaster board.

Prime internal substrates with DUROSEAL ARW Sealer.

Prime external substrates with DUROSEAL AR Sealer, DURO PRIME WBE , for damp surfaces at the rate of 4 - 6 m2/Ltr.

Step 4:

Cracks, fixings and sheet flooring joints: Shall be routed out and filled with neutral cure silicone sealant. Bond breaker tape may be utilized.

Step 5:

Apply a coat of DUROMASTIC ACS Fibre to all coved areas and over all sealed penetrations. When dry, apply two or more coats to floor and coved areas to a minimum dry film thickness of 1.0mm. Within shower area, walls shall be coated to finish 50mm above shower rose. Ensure the membrane is turned down into the floor waste or well sealed around leak control flange. Check for pinholes or misses when dry and recoat if necessary.

FLOOD TEST & TILING

A flood test may be carried out after 72 hours of drying, @25 o C, 50% R.H. Water shall cover to a depth of 25mm for approximately 2 hours. DURO MASTIC ACS Fibre may be tiled over after 3-4 days @25 o C, 50%R.H., using a quality cement based tile adhesive installed as per AS 3958.1.

PRECAUTIONS

All sheet flooring must be fixed to the manufacturers directions before membrane is applied. Do not apply above 35 degree C or below 8'C ambient. Ensure coating is fully dry before contact with water or tiling, assist drying with air movement if necessary. Wash equipment with water before dry. Protect membrane against damage when tiling. Externally, provide a slip sheet between membrane and topping and allow sufficient expansion and contraction control joints in overlaying tiles and topping - particularly important with sheet flooring externally, or damage to the membrane may occur. External decks shall be properly drained. Do not expose to solvents.
