Uses
Multiseal is formulated to prime most surfaces to be waterproofed using Multithane, including the following surface types:
Concrete, cement and cement render. Timber. Plaster Board and Fibre-Cement sheeting. Brick and Block work.
Given its inherent properties, it can also be used as a penetrative sealer.
Ensure that the Multiseal is dry prior to the application of either Multithane.
Description
It is a moisture curing, single pack, liquid polyurethane penetrating waterproofing primer. It is formulated to compliment Multisane as it is manufactured from identical resins contained in Multisane. As the resins employ cross-linking technology the chemical bond between the Multiseal, Multisane is exceptionally strong.
Multiseal as a primer:
Improves the adhesion and performance of the membrane.
'Locks-down' dust and loose materials.
Reduces the incidence of pinholes.
Provides a penetrative secondary waterproof barrier.
Improves the coverage of the
W-Multithane.
Multiseal as a penetrative sealer:
Provides a penetrative waterproof barrier when applied in 2 or more coats. NB. DO NOT use as a primary waterproofing membrane. Use only in conjunction with Multisane waterproofing membranes. For details refer to Multisane product data sheets. The Multiseal dries by evaporation of the solvent and then cures upon contact with water vapour in the air
Suitable Surfaces
It may be applied to the following surfaces:
Concrete, cement and cement render. Timber.
Plaster Board and Fibre - Cement sheeting.
Brick and Block work.
Ensure surface is dry prior to application.
Specification
The information contained in this product data sheet is typical but does not constitute a full specification as conditions and specific requirements may vary from project to project. The instructions should be considered as a minimum requirement but the applicator or contractor must use their skill, knowledge and experience to carry out additional works as may be necessary to meet the requirements of the project. Specification for specific projects should be sought from the Company in writing.
Limitations
It should not be used as a primary waterproofing membrane.
Use only in conjunction with Multisane waterproofing membranes. For details refer Multisane product data sheets.
It should not be used to dilute Multisane UV as it is not UV stabilised and any dilution will diminish or negate the properties of these products.
It is not a vapour barrier and should only be used when there is a very low risk of entrapped moisture in the slab.
Benefits and Advantages
It incorporates cross- linking technology to enhance adhesion and provides a strong bond to the substrate.
Enhances the overall performance and functionality of the waterproofing membrane.
Easy to apply - single pack.
Dries quickly, with large top coating window.
Has good strength, elasticity and penetrative qualities.
100% compatible with Multisane and Duram 195.
Moisture curing polyurethane.
Suitable for above ground and below ground applications.
Improves the coverage of the Multithane and Duram 195 membranes.
Improves easy of membrane application.
Suitable for permanent immersion of water.
Suitable for use on most porous substrates.
Precautions in Use
It contains solvent. Product is flammable. Therefore observe all the safety precautions in the Material Safety Data sheet. Ensure adequate ventilation is present when applying the product. In confined areas such as tanks ensure fresh air supply is provided and in severe cases self - contained breathing apparatus may be required. The use of gloves, goggles, coveralls and safety footwear is recommended. Keep all sources of ignition away from the product.
Priming and Surface Preparation
Good preparation is essential. Surfaces must be sound, stable, dry, clean and free of dust, loose, flaking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion.
Application
Apply by brush, roller, squeegee or spray. Allow the product to dry before top coating it with Multisane. For best results the Multisane should be applied as soon as product has cured but with sufficient time for absorbed solvent to evaporate from the substrate and best with 36 hours of applying the Multiseal. Longer periods will diminish the cross - linking bond between the 2 coats. Clean equipment with SOLVENT immediately after use.
Coverage
The stated average coverage rate may vary depending upon type, condition, porosity, texture of the surface and application technique.
Approximately 4m2 per litre per coat.
Colours
Grey. Available in 5 and 15 Lt Pails
Drying and Curing
Drying and curing of the product is affected by type, dryness and porosity of the surface, temperature, humidity, ventilation, climate conditions and application technique and therefore drying and curing can only be given as a guide.
Curing is usually 6 to 24 hours.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry area, away from naked flames or any other ignition sources. Keep out of reach of children.
Clean Up
CAUTION: Spills are difficult to remove. Wet utensils can be cleaned with SOLVENT. Do not allow SOLVENTS to enter the drains.
Safety & Precautions
Refer to the Multiseal Material Safety Data sheet. Product is flammable. Keep all flames and ignition source away from the product. The wearing of gloves, goggles, coveralls and safety footwear is highly recommended. Class 3 dangerous goods must be declared prior to transportation.
For full safety data refer to the products Material Safety Data Sheet. Observe precautions as per label. |
